Rice with tomato based vegetable sauce

This is my new favourite food. I eat lots of it, when mama cooks it. Today she said: "Pasta, let's eat pasta tonight.". But I said No. No?? mama asked. She is not used that I don't want pasta. No! I say. Do you want rice, mama asked. Yes, I said. And so mama made rice. And what a good choice I made! Mama uses the food blender to make the tomato sauce smooth. I like that. I don't like skins or hairy bits in my food!

Cut and paste and shred

This table is now my cutting, pasting and shredding table. I am using my own little scissors, with the round tips. But cutting in my finger still hurts, I have found out. I love to shred, I make an incission with the scissors and then tear the rest apart. And then use the glue to put it on the paper.

Your style is unique

Your style is unique! This is what the Dodo in this book says about Igor's singing. Igor has been told by the other birds, that he can't sing. They laugh when he sings. Igor goes to the desert. But when Igor sang, Dodo woke up! That is how powerfull his singing was. In the picture you see Igor and Dodo singing together, the whole night through!

Now Igor and Dodo are forming a band and will be travelling the world!

I like this book. Sometimes I repeat the text while we drive in the car. Mama hears me say: "Your style is unique! Sing duett?" As you can see, I can say some difficult things already.

I can also say: orange juice, which is not easy in dutch. You try it: sinaasappelsap.

The Wood

A year ago my papa and mama got married! Papa is not there to celebrate, so we go with grandma and grandpa to De Hout ('The Wood') in Haarlem. There are large trees and a restaurant, that caters to kids: they have a play ground.

There are two children there, brother and sister. I just want to run around, but they want to play with me. Slowly we come to an understanding. The boy is really enchanted with me, 'the baby'. He strokes my hair and gives me a kiss. Grandma saw that I was blushing!!

Then we stroll through the forest, where there are lots of beech nuts, edible, and oak nuts, not edible unless you're a squirrel. We saw a squirrel. I collect and taste the nuts. Then we have to walk on because so many nuts are falling, that we are likely to get one on the head!!

In the picture I am standing on a large tree trunk. Simon stood here too, grandpa tells us. Now I am standing.

Snakes on my leg

Mama, my book wet! I have found the little paper that I called my book yesterday. I must have left it on the ground. I usually leave things on the ground. Everywhere in the house, and in the garden.

Do you like the snakes on my legs. Mama and I play sssssssssss snakes and we draw the snakes with our fingers over my legs. It tickles in a nice way.

Four feet, two shoes

And then mama and I are alone again. If people ask me I tell them: papa with air plane to boat, boat working.

It is getting later in the year, and it is not so warm anymore. Therefore we eat our sandwiches in a sunny spot. I put my feet on top of mama's feet in mama's big luxurious warm house shoes. Mmm, that is cosy!

Tickle tickle tickle

My papa is about to leave again, but tonight we are going to enjoy the nice weather and eat out. More fries! The restaurant is built over the river Rhine, so we get a close up of the passing boats. We wave.

Going home I entertain myself by tickling papa on the back. He has to giggle.

Papa's deck and a bit of beach

I have slept really well at grandma's and grandpa's. I slept in, and then got to wake up in grandma's bed.

We go to the holiday home, because papa is finishing the deck. I am really proud of papa's work. I help him clear the remainder of wooden logs.'Mama, mama, look! Papa helping!'.

And then we eat fries on the little beach nearby.

Sleep over at grandma's

Tonight I am going for a sleep over at grandma's and grandpa's. Mama has been singing a lot lately, hopefully that will be over after tonight. I am looking forward to this sleep over!

Tomorrow papa and mama will pick me up again.

Today, Grandpa got a computer too and can read this: Hello Grandpa!!

Party at day care

It is party time at day care. Just the once per year party, but again with splendid weather. There are pancakes and lots of painting activities.

All the children want to look through the hole.

And then we eat pancakes!!

Self do

I like self do. Grandma has tought me to use a second chair to climb into my chair. She says I am too heavy to be lifted in.

And now I can get in, without an extra chair. It is just a matter of clever hand and foot placing. And concentration - you can see by my tongue.

Haselnut

My papa has found haselnuts at the back of our backyard. We have haselnut trees! And lots of nuts.

I help mama peeling them: first the jacket needs to come off, then mama hamers the shell in two and then we get the nut out.

Now, what to do with the nuts? I am reading our cake recipe book for ideas. Mmm, haselnuts with chocolate??

You sit still!

Papa and mama are sitting on the couch and reading books. I am pottering around. Then I think of something to get, but papa and mama shouldn't move! "You sit still!" I order them. "Wait. You keep sitting. I get my own book." And I run off to get my own book and sit with him. Papa and mama didn't move, for sure!!

Papa sits on my lap

Papa sits on my lap and I read my singing cowboy book to him.

Cowboy

My Miffy is doing poo poo and now I am reading her from my book about singing cowboys. Mama or papa read it to me, when I am doing poo poo. They are also sitting on the blue chair.

And then we read about the cowboys: they have a hat and a kerchief around the neck, a large belt and boots. They ride horses and have a guitar. And sometimes a pef puf paf gun. Cowboy John Wayne didn't sing very much: 'I am no pansy!'.

Zegerplas

On this beautiful day we want to sit on a beach and play with water and sand. Actually, it is a bit chilly, but the clothes have to come off, if I am to splash in the water.

Here is my castle with moat around. I can stand in my castle, with my feet in the moat!

Grandma Franka

We visit grandma Franka and take her to eat pancakes in Lage Vuursche, where papa went when he was a kid. Grandma is very happy to go out too.

I like grandma Frank, as I call her. She is always very sweet to me and makes sure that I drink enough.

Simon gives my papa a present

Simon has been away for a week to the forest and now he comes for a visit: to give my papa a present for his birthday.

This is another chance for me to learn about sharing my toys. We play with the bal, but sometimes I find it hard to throw the bal to Simon. In the end we both have our own bal.

In the picture we are playing 'snorren', this is dutch for moustaches. We look in the water and we say snorren, snorren, snorren. And then we start climbing on the side of the pool, but that is not allowed.

Later laat ik zien dat ik geleerd heb, en ik deel mijn speeltjes met Alex.

Culinair Alphen

We are at Culinair Alphen, where restaurants present themselves. I like duck liver, I think, fig chutney too.

Later we sit closer to the music and I get the vibe in my legs. I dance!

Climbing wall

Our little back street play yard has a new climbing house. I can climb on all by myself. Although I try to get papa or mama involved by holding out my arms each time: if I am lucky they'll lift me up.

This time I walked by myself, and am showing off at the top.
