Chez grandma

On Mondays when papa is at work, then I am with grandma. Sometimes Grandpa and Grandma come to us, sometimes we go to them.

Last night we slept at Grandma's place and now mama goes to work. We wave at her through the window.

Bye mama, see you tonight!

Walking in the drizzle

The drizzle continues when we are at grandma and grandpa, but we still want to get a fresh nose. Grandma and grandpa want that too, so we all go for a walk, hats on and the rain won't bother us.

We walk a little bit to the local playground and then we are ready to return to the teapot.

Strange, grandma wants me to walk through the rainpuddles. Something with my shoes...??? Strange, usually she is all for neatness. But I comply this time!!!

Cookies

It is a lazy drizzly morning and this is the right time to make cookies. My mama wanted to make cookies for a long time, to show me what fun that is.

First we put sugar in the bowl. Mmmm, I scoop finger full. Then we put melted butter in. Mmm, even better. Then we add the flower and egg. Still good, but oh my, that stuff fills my tummy. I have had enough of making cookies!! I go off and play on my own. Mama can make the cookies.

And then they come out of the oven, and I can't even eat them: hot!!

But we bring them to grandma and she is very impressed with us!

Books upside down

I understand now that books have an upside down and a right way up. And I can see this. When I was little, I did not see it, but now I see it immediately and I can turn the book around.

But this book has a picture that startles me. The whole book is the right way up, only this page is wrong. I need to turn the book, but then the other pictures are wrong.

It is a bat, my mama says. They sleep upside down in trees. Strange.....

Mr. Heijn's shop is very nice. He has little carts for us little folk. And he doesn't mind if I help him in his shop.

Mama's kitchen tools

My mama has all sorts of funny kitchen tools. Today I found this, it has an arm, that I can rotate. My mama calls it a nutt mill? Not sure what that means.

But I like it very much and learn myself how to rotate it. It is not as easy as it may seem to you: I am only small and need to learn this. It keeps me busy for a long time.

Little Mountain goat

Look, mama, I don't need help, I can climb the rocking chook myself!! The chicken wobbles on the spring but I can do it! And proud of it too!

Hot

Today I showed my mama that I understand the word hot. Mama said 'hot' and I was blowing air, like mama does to cool my food.

The Library

We have become members of the library in my town. I was getting a bit bored with my own books. The library was really good fun! First we sat on stools while the lady took our names, then we climbed down the staircase to the children's books, you know I like climbing stairs.

There were so many nice books! I grabbed the nearest one and it had beautiful picures and words from Carl Lewis. Then another book, and another book. Then my mama took the books and put them back and took me to the train, where books with hard pages were. I could climb on the train, and dive into the lorries to dig up books. It was great.

Then we reorganised the dvd's and cd's. We climbed a few other stairs and then I played with the little marbles in the plant pot.

Yes! I wanna go back!

At home I was happy reading the books while mama cooked. Mama! Chicken! (is this my first word???).

Wrapping paper rolls

Oops, I am spotted at Zeeman, not known for its high prices.

But they have a nice dress for me, that mama bought a size too small for me. Today we will buy the proper size, who cares when prices are so low!?

I like the wrapping paper. Mama says: Oh you like the sound of the paper when you squash the roll? Yes mama, and I can take them out the bin and back in the bin!

And they even have a skirt similar to the dress! Now I am set again. And I don't have to wear this old skirt with holes in them (just blow up the picture and you'll see!!).

Rumbling Cart

The rumbling cart at day care is my favourite. Sometimes the ladies take us shopping in the cart. We sit strapped in and go to the shops.

The rumbling cart is parked near the door of day care, so I climb on when we get in and when we go out. Just sitting in it is the best already. Mama never takes me walking in the cart, though. That is a pity.

Hair clips in my hair

The ladies at day care put hair clips in my hair. I have forgotten by now, so they are still in when we get home.

My mama has earlier tried to do it too, but then I didn't like it. Maybe because these are children's clips and a bit softer.

When mama takes the clips out at night, my hair stands up!!

The word Cooking

I understand some words now.

For example cooking. I know it means I run to the kitchen, climb on my stool and then the fun begins: splashing with water or eating my cherry tomatoes. I get cherry tomatoes before dinner, to still the worst hunger. Only they make a mess by leaking on my shirt.

When we are finished cooking we have to wait a while: this is while the food cooks and we wait. This is a difficult time. But I know another word too: 'tafel dekken'.

Dressing the table, means that I put forks on the table, and my plate.

And then, there is food at the end of cooking.

I understand words, but I cannot speak them, only 'bal'.

Drinking from a glass

Did you know that I can drink from a glass? I showed mama that I really have an interest to learn it, so she taught me. You sit properly and then you pick the glass with two hands. I also like sitting on the chairs. Well, they are the only ones I can climb on myself.
I also like using the spoon in my glass and pretend I have sugar to mix. In fact I like to play all sorts of games with my glass, but I know my mama doesn't like me doing that.
But sometimes I forget all this and the glass falls....I cry of disappointment.
But I am very proud I can drink from the glass and I like it very much.

Walk the line

We are doing our daily shopping, but I like walking around. A new game: walking on the line.

And I take off, while mama hurries to put our shopping trolley in the queue again. I am quick and can be out of sight in seconds!

But then I am distracted again: those faces in the display are interesting!

Bye mazda

I am going to miss our sporty car, but with our new car we will have lots of space! The buggy fits in, even without collapsing! Bye Mazda, you have been very good.

And there is mama!

I am at day care, lying on my back playing with the counting frame, or actually, the alphabet frame. I let the cubes twirl.

I see something from the corner of my eye and turn around: mama!!
I run towards the window to greet her. Then I run back to the door where she will come through. "Come on, mama, go to that door too!"

When I was little, I did not understand that mama had to go out of view to get in, but now I know there is a corridor she has to walk through to get into my room.

When she is in, I'll show her all my toys.

Italian

Tomorrow my papa goes back to work. We go out for dinner at the most famous Italian in my town, Is Morus. First we need to decide if we are going to cycle through the rain or if we are whoozies and take the car. The car is too hard to take, we cycle. It is not that bad actually, carefree.

We come very early, but already all the children's seats are in use. I sit on mama's lap, climb over to my own chair, climb back to mama and more. I like the ham and the bread and the olives. The spaghetti's are fun and for the rest I like showing off how I drink my apple juice.

You know that I can drink from a glass? I really can! My mama repeats over and over again: "Carefull!", but with that I can drink without spilling!! All by myself! Ain't I a big girl?!!!

Mowing lawn in rain

It is a rainy day, so we may as well drive to our holiday home. Mama mows the grass and I watch her from inside. Untill I want her to be with me. Then I cry.

When we leave, the grass is shorter, but it looks wobbly from mowing in the rain.

We enjoyed being in the holiday home. Even though the holiday home is more a burden now that we have a house with a garden, we always enjoy being there. It is so quiet there, and there is nothing else to do but to relax. Nevertheless the house will be sold next year.

Around the block

Now that I have shoes and can walk for a stretch, I sometimes go walking with my mama or my papa. It is a good thing to do, when otherwise we would be cranky.

But today is rather cold day, so we go for a walk to get a fresh nose - else we would be couch potatoes. We always take my car, for when I get tired. There is a little play ground in the next block and that is our target of today. I play with the slide, the rocking horse and papa shows me how to walk the balance beam.

Puzzles

Our new neighbour has given us puzzles that the neighbour's kids don't play with anymore. I like that puzzle, because I play it often with mama. I point to mama where the piece should goe, mama puts the piece very close and then I push it in.

But today I managed to put the piece very close myself. Sometimes they need rotating, but even that I can sometimes do. Not always, and then I give the piece to mama again.

And when I push the piece in place, I clap for me!!
